Tendering a shipment

The Tender Shipment action is available only to shipments with a New status. Use the Tender Shipment action to submit one or more shipments for rating and routing and to tender the shipments to the top-ranked carrier. After rating and routing is completed, the shipments receive a Route Created status and are assigned carrier routes with a Tendered status. If the rating and routing process does not result in a carrier selection, a message is displayed to list the shipments that do not have a carrier.

From the Shipment list page, you can select to tender one shipment or multiple shipments. From the Shipment detail page, you can tender the displayed shipment.

When you select multiple shipments on the Shipments list page and you select an action, and if one or more of the selected shipments have a status that is not valid for the selected action, an error dialog indicates how many shipments are not processed successfully. View the shipment details and click Messages to access the error information for that particular shipment.

Note: Performing the Tender action for a shipment containing a requested carrier sends the shipment through the rating and routing process resulting in a selected carrier and rate based on the rating and routing rules. To honor the requested carrier and tender without going through the rating and routing process, perform the Create Route action for the shipment, specify the requested carrier, and then perform the Tender action from Create Route.

To tender a shipment:

  1. Select Transportation > Shipment.
  2. Click the Search arrow on the search toolbar to display a list of shipments.
    Use the filter options on the search toolbar to refine the list.
  3. Select one or more shipments that you want to tender.
  4. Select Actions > Tender Shipment.
    The shipment status is updated from New to Route Created. After successful rating and routing, the Shipment List page is automatically refreshed, and the shipment status is updated to Route Created. Information about the carrier, the estimated pickup date, and the estimated delivery date is now displayed.

    From the Shipment detail page, you can click Messages to display the Shipment Messages dialog and confirm that the shipment is tendered.
