Tendering a route

Use the Tender Route action to send one or more routes to the rating and routing process and to tender the routes to the top-ranked carrier. When the status of the route is Carrier Selected, TM tenders the route to the selected carrier without recalling the rating and routing process. The carrier receives an e-mail tender notification or a notification via EDI, depending on configuration. The routes receive a Tendered status.

The Tender Route action is available to routes with these statuses:

  • New
  • Carrier Selected
  • Tender Canceled
  • Tender Rejected
  • No Rate Found

The carrier can then enter a response to the load tender directly through TM or via EDI.

From the Carrier Route list page, you can select to tender one route or multiple routes. From the Carrier Route detail page or from the Shipment Carrier Route page, you can tender the displayed route.

Note: Performing the Tender action for a shipment containing a requested carrier sends the shipment through the rating and routing process resulting in a selected carrier and rate based on the rating and routing rules. To honor the requested carrier and tender without going through the rating and routing process, perform the Create Route action for the shipment, specify the requested carrier, and then perform the Tender action from Create Route.

To tender a route:

  1. Select Transportation > Carrier Route.
  2. Click the Search arrow on the search toolbar to display a list of carrier routes.
Use the filter options on the search toolbar to refine the list.
  3. Select one or more routes that you want to tender.
  4. Select Actions > Tender Route.
After carrier selection and rating are completed, the status of the route is updated to Tendered. The route changes to Tender Accepted status when the carrier accepts the route. You can set up a carrier to accept a route automatically, in which case, the status changes directly to Tender Accepted. If a carrier rejects the route, the status changes to Tender Rejected if the route is not sequentially tendered to the next carrier in the solution, or the status reverts to Tendered or Carrier Selected, depending on the manual tendering rules, but with a different carrier.

From the Carrier Route detail page, you can click Messages to display the Route Messages dialog and confirm that the route is tendered.
