Configuring a carrier

For carrier configuration, you assign an hours profile, an exception profile, and a time zone to a carrier. Optionally, you can also set up the tracking number format for automatically-assigning carrier PRO numbers upon tendering to carriers that have an assigned formula.

To configure a carrier:

  1. Select Transportation > Administration > Carrier Configuration.
The Carrier Configuration list page is displayed.
  2. Select the carrier to configure.
The Carrier Configuration detail page is displayed.
  3. View or specify information for the carrier configuration, as applicable.

    Hours of Operation

    Carrier
Carriers that are displayed in list are all carriers not specified as Infor SCE Small Parcel Shipping carriers.
Address Lines 1-4, City, State, ZIP, Country
    Address information for the carrier.
    Carrier SCAC
The Standard Carrier Alpha Code, a unique two-to-four-letter code used to identify transportation companies. This is the value defined in the Carrier SCAC field in the carrier master data setup in Enterprise > Configuration > Trading Partner > Carrier.
    Profile Name
Specify an hours profile that represents the carrier's hours of operation.
    Exception Profile
Specify an exception profile that represents the carrier's exceptions to the hours of operation.
    Time Zone
Specify the carrier's time zone. The time zone configuration is important for representing the hours of the user responding to the load tenders so that the correct tender time out time is calculated.

    PRO Number Format

    Formula
Specify the pre-defined formula to use for automatically assigning PRO numbers to carriers upon tender.
    Prefix
Specify the prefix used in conjunction with formulas containing a prefix when automatically assigning a PRO number.

Example: Formula PREFIX-123456 requires that a prefix be specified. The prefix can up to six characters. All prefixes are alpha-numeric with the exception of PREFIX-12345-C.

    Increment
Specify the number amount used to increment each generated PRO number.
    Last Generated
View the previous PRO number generated for the carrier. The value is not editable.
    Current Range
Select 1 to use one range (Range 1) of numbers to generate carrier tracking numbers or select 2 to use two ranges (Range 1 and Range 2) of numbers to generate carrier tracking numbers; default value is 1. If a range is not specified, Range 1 is used.
    Range 1 Last Used
Prior to the first PRO number being generated, specify the number used to calculate the first generated number in the range (Range 1) in conjunction with the increment. Once a PRO number has been generated, the manually-entered number is automatically overwritten with the most-recently used tracking number within the range (Range 1).
    Range 1 End
Specify the last number to be used in Range 1.
Example of Range 1 Numbering Format
    Desired Range 1 numbers 100-1000
    Increment amount 1
Range 1 Last Used (Initial entry before the first PRO number has been automatically generated) 99
Range 1 Last Used (Once a PRO number has been automatically generated) 100
    Range 1 End 1000
    Range 2 Last Used
Prior to the first PRO number being generated, specify the number used to calculate the first generated number in the range (Range 2) in conjunction with the increment. Once a PRO number has been generated, the manually-entered number is automatically overwritten with the most-recently used tracking number within the range (Range 2).
    Range 2 End
Specify the last number to be used in Range 2.
Note: If you specify values for both Range 1 and Range 2, when the numbers in one range have all been used, the PRO number generator automatically switches to the other range of numbers assuming the numbers in the other range have not already been used. If the numbers in the other ranged have all been used or if only one range has been specified; and there are no additional numbers to use, the route still tenders but no PRO number is generated.
Example of Range 2 Numbering Format
    Desired Range 2 numbers 2000-3000
    Increment amount 5
Range 2 Last Used (Initial entry before the first PRO number has been automatically generated) 1995
Range 2 Last Used (Once a carrier tracking number has been automatically generated) 2000
    Range 2 End 3000
