Using the pallet conversion factor
During the splitting process, the TM module can ensure that the estimated amount that could equate to a single pallet is not split onto two different carrier routes. The pallet conversion factor defines how many eaches of an item equate to a pallet. For example, 200 eaches = 1 pallet. This conversion is defined by the "Pack" assigned to the item setup. The item pack code and pallet conversion value is defined in
. If the item setup is available and if the conversion of eaches to pallets is defined, the item's pallet quantity is used to determine how a shipment is split to ensure that a single pallet is not split between multiple carrier routes.Example:
- Shipment Item/Order Quantity = 250
- Pallet Quantity = 200
- TM internally calculates that the ordered quantity is 1 pallet and 50 eaches.
- Based on the calculations, the quantity that equates to a pallet cannot be split; but, any remaining quantity can be split.
- Note that this pallet conversion is only an estimate for using the splitting process. The pallet conversion does not populate shipment unit data back to the system of record or affect the actual packing process at the warehouse.
