Working with Postal codes

The Postal Code table contains the information responsible for setting up and maintaining ZIP or postal codes for the US and Canada.
Note: The installation includes a set of US postal code data by default. You can modify or add postal codes as necessary. See the Infor SCE Transportation Management Supplementary Installation Guide for instructions on how to load Canadian Postal Code data.

You can download the Postal Code template from the Reference Data Manager Help screen. The existing table is too large to download.

Specify the ZIP or postal location in Rate Query to see if Rating and Routing recognizes the location before you add a new location.

Click the file name below or go to Xtreme Online Support at http://www.infor.com/inforxtreme to access the document.

This table describes the columns in the downloaded postal code .csv template and provides the format of the data required:

Column heading Description
Code (required) This field lists valid 5-digit ZIP codes defined by the USPS or valid 6-character codes for Canadian postal codes defined by the CPC. There is one record for each ZIP code or postal code. Canadian postal codes must be uploaded excluding the space.
Code Type This US-only field identifies special types of ZIP codes. For normal residential ZIP codes, which may include PO boxes, this field is blank.

These codes may appear:

  • P: ZIP code applies only to PO boxes
  • M: Military ZIP code (APO/FPO)
  • U: Unique ZIP code assigned to a particular business or organization

This field is blank for Canadian postal code records.

City Name (required) This is the city name, containing up to 33 characters, associated with the ZIP code. Several cities may be associated with a ZIP code. If that is the case, the ZIP code may appear in several different records, each with a different city name.

The Pref column identifies whether this city name is the primary city name or an alias (alternate) city name for this ZIP code.

State Prov Code (required) This is the two-character state or province abbreviation defined by the USPS or CPC.
Country Code (required) This field identifies whether a record is for the US or Canada (CA).
FIPS USA This is the unique US-only 5-digit numeric identification assigned to each county by the US government. The county FIPS code is a 3-digit code, but it is usually combined with the 2-digit state FIPS code for a total of 5 digits, which can uniquely identify each county in the US.

This field is required for the US.

This field is blank for Canadian postal code records.

County USA This field identifies the "most prevalent" county for the 5-digit ZIP code as determined by the USPS. The specified county is related to the ZIP code, not necessarily to the specified city name. The county name can consist of up to 25 characters.
