Reviewing the Fuel Surcharge tab

Use the Fuel Surcharge tab to record fuel surcharge amounts to be calculated for the rate contract.

Note:  To update fuel surcharges for one or more rate contracts, use the Update All Filtered Rate Contract feature accessed from the Rate Contract list page.

This table shows the tab elements, or fields, and their descriptions:

Tab element Description
Charge Type Select the applicable type of charge from the Type list or select No Charge if applicable. Valid fuel-surcharge types include:
  • Flat Charge per load
  • Cost/Weight
  • Cost/Hour
  • Cost/Distance
  • % of Freight Charge
Rate This field applies when you select a charge type from the list. Insert the rate that is associated with the charge type selected.
Min Indicates the minimum charge that is associated with the charge type selected. If you select No Charge or Flat Rate for the Charge Type value, the Min field value is not applicable. If you select a Charge Type value other than No Charge or Flat Rate, you must specify a minimum charge.
Effective Date This is the date the surcharge goes into effect. Note that if you do not specify an Effective Date and an Expiration Date on the Fuel Surcharge tab, the effective and expiration dates you specified on the Basics tab are used.
Expiration Date This is the last date the surcharge is in effect. The surcharge becomes invalid at the end of this date. Note that if you do not specify an Effective Date and an Expiration Date on the Fuel Surcharge tab, the effective and expiration dates you specified on the Basics tab are used.
