Using RF-directed picking

RF-directed picking means that the picker is directed by the application based on the assigned work area. The application dispenses picking tasks to the pickers based on the order in which the waves are released. See the RF-assisted picking and Using RF-directed picking topics for more information.
Note: You must have permission to perform pick tasks in the Task Manager User screen. You must also be set up for the correct pick type, such as Pick Piece, Pick Case, and so on. See the Infor Supply Chain Execution Configuration User Guide.
Various types of directed picking that use task manager to control and distribute pick instructions to the user are available. These include:
  • Task Pick
  • Cluster Pick by Order
  • Cluster Pick by Case ID
  • Assignment Pick

See the Infor Supply Chain Execution Productivity User Guide for more information on assignment picking.

Understanding RF-directed pick verification methods

The verification method is defined on the Zone configuration for the From Location entered on the pick.

For each positive verification method, you must perform certain actions.
  • Location

You must scan the From Location when performing the pick.

  • Check Digit

You must enter the 1-character check digit that corresponds to the From Location. The system validates that the check digit you enter matches the check digit for that location.

  • None

You are not required to enter the location and the application assumes that the correct location was used.

See the Infor Supply Chain Execution Configuration User Guide for information on RF Picking Strategies assigned at the Zone level. The picking strategies can be used to configure additional pick verification options for several fields based on business requirements. The settings apply whether you are using RF-directed or RF-assisted picking.

Note:  Settings on an RF Picking Strategy take precedence over Zone settings.
